Rocky Mountain youth are on the move » This is a busy time of year for our youth in the Rocky Mountain Conference! Coming in March are conference-sponsored mission trips to Ecuador, Panama, Honduras, and Belize. Our young people from Wyoming are also going on a trip to Honduras. There are many details to be worked out and funds to be raised as these mission opportunities for our young people approach. Please continue to pray for the young people who are preparing to build churches and schools, hold vacation Bible schools, and preach evangelistic series.
In addition to the youth mission trips, WinterFest is happening March 1–2. For more information on this event, check out the Youth Department page at rmyouth.org.

The first Rocky Mountain Conference/Mid-America Union-sponsored family life training event took place at LifeSource Adventist Fellowship » Six couples representing congregations from around the conference met last weekend at LifeSource Adventist Fellowship. RMC family ministries director Mark Bond reports that the meetings were a great opportunity for learn and grow. Hubert Cisneros from the Mid-America Union was the keynote speaker. Mark Bond from the RMC office and Denise and Marlon Johnson from the Central States Conference presented seminars. Those present are excited to take the new tools and resources home to their congregations. Family Ministries is a wonderful way to build stronger churches and reach out to families in our communities.
Rocky Mountain Conference employee earns advanced human resources credentials » In an effort to continue professional development in her field, Danielle Toddy, RMC’s Human Resources director, has been credentialed as a Senior Professional in Human Resources, which comes after passing the SPHR exam. This comes on the heels of earning her Master’s in Human Resources in 2012.
Danielle shared with me that, more than anything, she wants to do her job well so the mission here in the Rocky Mountain Conference can move forward! Thanks, Danielle, and congratulations!

Rocky Mountain Conference pastors and staff leave this week for the Reformation Tour » Generous donations have made it possible for our conference team to experience an amazing growth opportunity. Half of our conference and pastoral ministry team is in Germany this week—and the other half will travel next week—to participate in the long-anticipated Reformation Tour. Please pray for safety and a special blessing for all those participating as we personally follow Martin Luther’s physical and spiritual journey in standing up for God’s Holy Word. The journey will begin in Berlin, where we'll see Nebuchadnezzar's throne room version of Babylon’s Ishtar gate that Daniel walked through as a prisoner some 600 years before Christ. Then we’ll continue on to Wittenberg, where Luther preached and posted his “95 Theses.”
On the road » Last Sabbath, it was a joy to worship with the Rocky Mountain Indonesian Church. As with all of the Indonesian congregations, music is a big part of the culture of worship. The service was filled with wonderful music from start to finish.
It was also a special Sabbath for the church as they welcomed their new pastor. Pastor Pursasa Marpaung and his wife, Ester, were prayed over as they began their ministry there. The church family also publicly thanked Pastor Yorem Tumberante and his wife, Geertje, for their years of faithful leadership, which blessed the congregation.
PLEASE NOTE: Because of the Reformation Tour in Germany, the next issue of Nuggets will be sent on Feb. 22.
Blessings to all,
Elder Gary Thurber
