Adventurers gather for Fun Day » Sunday, Feb. 29, was a very special day at Campion Academy for all our young people in the RMC Adventurer program. A special thanks to Serena Laubscher and Staci Nelson, the RMC Adventurer coordinators for the Rocky Mountain Conference; Benjie Maxon, RMC youth director; and all RMC Adventurer leaders everywhere who worked hard to make this a special day for our young people.
Youth website created for our RMC young people » Benjie Maxon has been working on a brand new website for the youth of our conference. Our youth can stay connected by going to www.rmyouth.org.
I thought you might also appreciate knowing that Benjie had the privilege of baptizing his son, Benjamin, in April. Congratulations to both, and welcome to the Church family, Benjamin!
New Bible lessons offered for young people and in Spanish » As many of you know, Karen Lewis, former Bible worker coordinator for the Rocky Mountain Conference, and current director of Healing Place Ministries in downtown Denver, has written a set of Bible study lessons based on John 12:32. Karen’s lessons, “Lifting up Jesus,” have been used widely around our conference and in Adventist churches across North America.
Recently, Karen produced two new Bible study series: “Lifting up Jesus for Kids” and “Lifting up Jesus” in Spanish. You can learn more about these lessons and how to order them by clicking here for the press release on both lessons.
RMC sister conference affirms leadership » The Minnesota Conference held its constituency session this past Sunday. As reported by Martin Weber, Mid-America Union Conference communication director, there was a sweet spirit present. Without decent, all three administrative officers were re-elected to serve another term. Elected were Ed Barnett, (center) president; Justin Lyons, (left) vice president for administration; and Reggie Leach, (right) vice president for finance. Let’s keep the Minnesota Conference office staff, pastors, teachers and laypeople in our prayers as they move the Lord’s work forward in their territory!
Pastor selected for LifeSource » LifeSource Adventist Fellowship, in Denver, invited Dany Hernandez to be the new senior pastor. Pastor Dany currently serves on the staff of the Forest Lake Church in Orlando. After much prayer and thought, Dany has accepted the invitation, and he and his family arrive the last part of June.
The LifeSource church board, working collaboratively, diligently and with much prayer with the conference administration to find the right person to invite to meet and interview with the church family. Please join us in lifting up the Hernandez family and the LifeSource congregation as they begin their ministry journey together!
Town hall updates » This past Sabbath I was blessed to be with the Campion Academy Church for worship in the morning, and was again at the Campion Church for the NE Colorado Town Hall that evening. The town hall was very well attended, and a good discussion took place about some of the items to be addressed at the constituency session in September. The next RMC town hall will be the Southwest Region Town Hall at the Pinon Hills Church, in Farmington, N. Mexico, on May 12, for members and delegates of the southwest portion of the Western Slope of our conference.
On the road » This coming Sabbath I will travel to La Vida Mission, in Crownpoint, New Mexico, for the Native Ministries Camp Meeting. There will also be a special meeting on Friday with representatives from three Union Conferences and four Conferences who want to come together and coordinate their ministries for the Navajo Nation, which is a part of all their territories.
