Jim Jensen accepts a position in the Alaska Conference » After ten years of faithful service as the associate treasurer of the Rocky Mountain Conference, Jim Jensen has accepted the invitation of the Alaska Conference to be their treasurer. Jim, his wife, Teresa, and their family will begin their ministry journey in Alaska in June. To say the least, they will be greatly missed!
‘Let Music Be Thy Medicine’ concert coming to Denver » An exciting, new concert/seminar titled, “Let Music Be Thy Medicine,” presented by Lydia Calhoun, will be offered in the Denver South Church on Sabbath, May 11, from 5:00–6:30 p.m. The concert will be followed by a heart-healthy reception with hors d’oeuvres. Porter Adventist Hospital also has requested a mini-concert on Friday, May 10, in their new lobby atrium, on the second floor, as an introduction to the Healing Arts program that Jude Keller is spearheading for Centura Health. A touching story demonstrates Divine timing » Pastor Ruben Balager, pastor of the Pagosa Springs Church and Durango Hispanic Group, in Colorado, and the Bloomfield Hispanic Church, in New Mexico, shares a miraculous story of a very special acquaintance he met while traveling. Their friendship has continued for eight months, and Pastor Balager has had the opportunity to share Bible truths with his new friend, Alberto, via cell phone conversations. Praise God for the Divine appointment! May we each be sensitive to the appointments He schedules for us.
On the road » Last Sabbath, Diane and I found the Colorado Springs Church, in Colorado, to be a very warm, caring church! It was easy to see that Pastor Mike Maldonaldo is deeply loved and appreciated there, and he loves his church family, too! It was again a pleasure to meet with our church family, from that region at the Town Hall meeting, held Saturday evening in Colorado Springs.
This coming weekend, our office team will be in Durango, Colo., to meet with our members, of that region, at a Town Hall meeting.
As I write these Nuggets, I am in Lincoln, Neb., for the Union College Board of Trustees. This weekend is graduation weekend at Union College. Congratulations to all our Rocky Mountain Conference graduates for this great accomplishment! Your church is praying for you, is proud of you and certainly needs you!
I pray all will experience the love of Christ in a special way as we move into a day of rest with our Savior.
Elder Gary Thurber
President of the Rocky Mountain Conference
