Executive Committee convenes » This past Tuesday, May 22, the Rocky Mountain Conference Executive Committee members met. It was a productive meeting, with several exciting agenda items. First, the committee voted, subject to the recommendation of the Ordination Review Committee, for Ruddy Vivanco’s name to be sent to the Mid-America Union Executive Committee for consideration for ordination to the gospel ministry.
Another exciting agenda item was the approval of a new youth evangelism coordinator position. This new ministry is possible because of a generous donation by one of our members, which will cover the expenses of a program to disciple and provide opportunities for our young people to be involved in evangelism, as well as for a coordinator for the program.
Jamey Houghton, a pastor from Bakersfield, Calif., who comes highly recommended and has much experience in training and equipping young people, has been invited to coordinate this new ministry. He has experience leading youth evangelism teams in the United States and overseas. Pastor Houghton’s goal is to work closely with young people in all our academies, as well as with those who are home schooled or in public school who desire to participate. He and his family will arrive in July.

Please join us in praying for them as they follow God’s leading and begin a new chapter in their ministry journey.
Benjie Maxson accepts call to UCA » Benjie Maxson, Rocky Mountain Conference youth and camp ministries director, accepted the invitation to join John Winslow at Upper Columbia Academy. John will be the new principal there, and Pastor Benjie will serve as vice principal. He has been a great blessing to our youth and camp ministries programs. Pastor Benjie has a special gift working with young people, and will certainly be a blessing as he returns to an academy setting. He and Kartini, his wife, along with their son, Benjamin, will transition to Spangle, Wash., following the completion of the summer camp programs at Glacier View Ranch and Mill Springs Ranch.
Thank you, Pastor Benjie, for your years of ministry to our young people in the Rocky Mountain Conference!
Resting in Jesus » Two of our ministry spouses, Linda Aalborg (Littleton) and Judy Schwarz (Canon City/Salida), have experienced the death of a parent recently. Linda’s father passed away last week, just a few short months after her mother’s death. Judy said goodbye this week to her mother, just one day after her father’s 87th birthday. Please remember these women of God and their families as they mourn the loss of their parents who are now resting in Jesus. Come soon, Lord Jesus!
On the road » This is a special weekend for many young people, parents, and teachers in our conference. Campion Academy, Mile High Academy, and Vista Ridge Academy celebrate the accomplishments of their senior classes.
In addition to supporting these academy celebrations, I am privileged to worship this Sabbath morning with the Rifle Church family, in Rifle, Colo.
This is also a special weekend for many military heroes and their families. As a church family, let’s be sure to thank those who have served, and praise God for the freedom we enjoy because of their and their family’s sacrifices for our country.
