RMC Mission Trips
Here is an update on three separate mission teams from our conference which are currently scattered around the globe.
Let’s hold them up in our prayers as they endeavor to make an impact for Jesus on their journey.
Honduras» A total of 51 adults and young people left for San Pedro, Honduras, on Wednesday, Mar. 7. The mission trip, coordinated by Benjie Maxson, RMC youth director, will provide opportunities for outreach at the Pan American Orphanage. The young people will present a vacation Bible school program, and assist in dental clinics in the villages near the orphanage. The mission team is scheduled to return on Mar. 19.
Belize» Joe Martin, director of student literature evangelism, is leading a group of 38 missionaries comprised of adults, college- and high school-age students, and even a few children, who left Denver on Thursday bound for Belize. This mission team plans to begin building an administration building for the college in Belize, do some painting, conduct a vacation Bible school program, distribute 3,000 copies of Steps to Christ, and give out 500 pounds of shoes.
Rwanda» Dave Kennedy, Parker Church pastor, along with his son, Lucas, a senior at Campion Academy, and eight other members from the Parker Church, are currently in Rwanda on a mission trip. The team first plans on meeting with and throwing a party for 200 children the Parker Church is sponsoring through World Vision. Next, they will help at the Adventist orphanage and hospital in the area.
Ordination Approvals» This week, I have been in Lincoln, Neb., to participate in several Mid-America Union meetings. On Wednesday, the MAUC Board of Education convened, and on Thursday, the MAUC Executive Committee met. One exciting item on the Executive Committee agenda was the recommendation from the RMC Executive Committee to approve the ordinations of six of our pastors! Chris Evenson, Cesar Pompa, Michael Shannon, Tim Cress, Harold Alomia and Mitch Williams were all approved! We are blessed to have some of the best pastors anywhere, right here in our conference!
Sabbath Plans» This Sabbath, I will worship with the Pecos Hispanic SDA Church, in Denver. We have many wonderful, active Hispanic congregations in the Rocky Mountain Conference, but Pecos is extra special because it was the first Hispanic congregation in our conference.
