Special Delivery » Chris and Lisa Evenson, our pastoral couple for the Franktown and Aspen Park churches in Colo., have a precious new member of their family! On March 28, Karina Gail Evenson was born! Congratulations!
Franktown News » This past Sabbath, I was able to attend my home church in Franktown, Colo., which doesn’t happen very often. I was very blessed for three reasons in particular.
First, it was Pathfinder Sabbath; the club, under the direction of Wendy DeRose, led out in the worship service. The young people were wonderful, and I believe all of us were blessed.
Second, there was a special baptism. Pastor Chris (left) baptized cousins Bailey Simpson (right) and Erika Bauermeister (middle) as they made their stand for Jesus. They both shared a beautiful testimony about their journey with the Savior, and mentioned how influential their families, Pastor Chris, and attending camp at Glacier View Ranch had been in pointing them to Christ! Bailey was voted into membership that day at Franktown, and Erika will become a member of LifeSource Adventist Fellowship, in Denver, Colo.
Finally, I learned of a special event where the church invited the community to come for a Vegan / Vegetarian Pizza Cook-off. The event was well attended with folks from their community coming and participating.
Passings » Retired pastor, Lloyd Austin, passed away on March 20. Pastor Lloyd ministered here in our conference for many years. Eric Nelson, RMC vice president for administration, tells me Pastor Lloyd was his pastor when he attended Campion Academy. His services will be at the Montrose Seventh-day Adventist Church, in Montrose, Colo., April 14 at 3:00 p.m. Please join me in prayer for the family during this difficult time.
Mona Porton, Carol Snow’s mother, passed away this week. Carol and Steve Snow are the pastoral couple for our Loveland and Longmont churches here in Colorado. They will be heading to Bowman, N. Dakota, for Mona’s services. Let’s keep Carol and her family in our prayers!
Prayer Request » Ken Maldonado, who pastors the Scotts Bluff Church in Nebraska, was traveling to Franktown, Colo., to visit his daughter, Kristie Smith, who teaches at our Castlewood Christian School. While en route, Pastor Ken began to experience some discomfort and chest pains. Ken stopped at the Medical Center of the Rockies, in Loveland, Colo., and soon found out it was his heart causing the pain. He is currently still at the hospital, and has a by-pass surgery scheduled for Tuesday. Let’s keep him and his family in our prayers.
Disaster Response Needed » The State of Colorado has asked our conference for 15 volunteers and leaders to assist the Mountain Resource Center of Aspen Park in response to the fires that have been raging there this week. Cathy Kissner, RMC Adventist Community Services and Disaster Response director, will train our members, direct our ACS DR and volunteers, and process donations for this relief effort. Thank you, Cathy, for your leadership, and we will keep you in our prayers! To get involved, contact Cathy at 970.201.3799.

This weekend will offer single adults an opportunity to worship and fellowship, and enjoy engaging speakers and inspirational music. Please share this announcement with your congregations. Executive Committee Update » This past Tuesday, the Rocky Mountain Conference Executive Committee had its regularly scheduled meeting. One particular highlight I would like to report is that George Crumley, our new RMC vice president for finance, presented a final budget to the committee that was balanced for 2012! This simply could not have happened if it wasn’t for the faithful support we receive through tithes and offerings from our members! Thank you for your generous hearts! The budget cuts we experienced last year were painful, but praise the Lord for how He has brought us through!
Music Festival » Last weekend, the RMC Music Festival was hosted at Campion Academy. Young people from all over the conference attended. Melia Williams, music teacher at Campion Academy; John Winslow, principal at Campion Academy; and the entire staff once again did a wonderful job directing and hosting this large group. A big thanks to Lonnie Hetterle, RMC superintendent of education, and his staff at the office as well, for their efforts to make this happen. What made this an extraordinary event is that Melia and her husband, Chris Williams received word on Friday afternoon that his mother had passed away. The Williamses both continued on in their ministry to our young people during the weekend. Let’s remember them in our prayers.
On the Road » This evening, my wife, Diane, and I have the privilege of meeting with a group of collegians from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo. We'll gather at the home of Jim and Ingrid Moon, the pastoral couple for the Alamosa and Monte Vista, Colo., churches. The collegians appreciate the home cooking provided at these Friday evening gatherings. After preaching at both churches tomorrow morning, I will head to LifeSource Adventist Fellowship Downtown for Tim Cress’s ordination service at 7:00 p.m. Sabbath evening. Blessings to all of you throughout the conference as we gather tomorrow with our various church families. This is going to be a great weekend!
