The Reformation Tour brings many blessings to our pastors » Everyone is back now from the Reformation Tour in Germany. This trip, which was mostly paid for by the pastors and several generous donors, allowed our pastors and office team to visit the very places where the Reformation was born. It was a thrill to worship on Sabbath together in the Town Church, in Wittenberg, where Martin Luther preached more than 2,000 sermons.
Here is what one of our pastors shared about the trip: “It was a blessing to be in Germany. To be in the places that hold so much history... It was just so inspiring! Father, maybe not like Luther, but would you do something in, with, through me? I'm yours!”
A huge thanks is extended to the donors and to Don and Marti Schneider who organized and led our tour. It just couldn’t have happened without them.
John Sackett accepts new leadership position » John Sackett, CEO of Avista Adventist Hospital, in Louisville, Colo., has accepted an invitation to become the CEO of the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, Md. John has been with Avista Adventist Hospital since it opened in 1990. The hospital has thrived under his leadership and has one of the highest patient satisfaction records anywhere!
John also has been a blessing to the Boulder Church, in Colo., his home church, and a supporter of our schools here in the Rocky Mountain Conference. He will be greatly missed! We wish John and his family only the very best as they make this transition.

On the road » The Germany trip was such a spiritual blessing to Diane and me. While Martin Luther certainly was not perfect, the courage he had to stand up for the Savior and His Word inspires us to do the same now, in this day and age, for our Lord.
After coming home, I had the privilege to attend the Adventist Health Systems Mission Conference in Orlando, Fla. It always encourages me to see the intentionality shown by our hospitals to fulfill their mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ. One highlight was a presentation by Randy Haffner, CEO at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver, Colo., and Dianne McAllister, chief medical officer at Porter, about their plans to impact the south Denver area with the CREATION Health initiative developed by AHS. The corporate office has given a grant to help out in this extensive project to bring better health to the community.
This Sabbath, Diane and I will head to Silverthorne, Colo., for the WinterFest weekend, sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Conference Youth Department. We hope to see many of you there!
Happy Sabbath all!
Elder Gary Thurber
