One-Hour Ministries at Boulder Church »
Boulder Church is urging its members to get involved in 2018 by volunteering just one hour per week. Most people have little idea of how much work goes into running a church. The worship services alone require hundreds of hours and the dedicated participation of dozens of volunteers in addition to the work of full-time employees. “Our church does not function merely one day a week,” Pastor Japhet De Oliveira points out.
“In addition to working to fulfill the spiritual needs of our community through sermon preparation, Bible studies, pastoral visits and counseling, the church staff produces resources, manages the building, answers hundreds of emails and other forms of correspondence, makes the church presentable for worship each week, and manages our online and social media presence. They also create and produce special programs for holidays and other events, providing opportunities for engagement with the local community.
The list of tasks sometimes seems endless—and yet there is so much more we’d like to do.” Boulder Church has developed a list of “one hour ministries” ranging from scheduling to greeting to preparing pews for worship to shopping for snacks for meetings. “We’re really lucky at this church,” comments Pastor De Oliveira. “Even though our members are scattered over a wide geographical area, they give selflessly of their time and money. We appreciate it so much.”
