Bible Bowl - A Pathfinder's Perspective

Going to a bible bowl and participating in one is a very great experience.

This past weekend was one of the most exciting Bible Bowls I have ever gone too. It was great because I knew that all of the Pathfinder Clubs had studied a lot and I knew that we had also studied a lot. I knew that this year it was going to be a very good competition and the scores of every club were going to close.

The way that they are doing in it right now it is cool. It is cool because they have a new system, so it could go faster. There are several parts to the system. The first part they call “The Flying Saucer.” They call it that because it is a half circle and it looks like it is flying. Then, they give each club a remote control. After they Quiz Master is done reading the question and your team has chosen an answer, your team’s captain points the remote control at the “Flying Saucer” and clicks on the letter corresponding to the answer that they have chosen. After your team has answered every question, judges look at every team’s answers. After they have gotten all of the team’s scores then they make an announcement. While they are announcing the teams that got the lower scores the other teams are desperate of not calling their team up to the stage.

Every team wants to get the first place pin and trophy. Not every team is going to get those two things because there are could be other teams that might have studied more than them. The pins are nice. They say Bible Bowl, the year and the color of what place your team got. This is how the bible bowl is organized and how the teams all wanted to get the first place pin and trophy.

Unfortunately our club didn't get first place, but it was really close. Our club got second place but it felt that we got first. This year was the year that we studied the most. The past years we slacked off on the reading, but this year our goal was to get first place and we were very close of getting in it. Every Friday our team would get together and re-read the book and asking each other some questions. Over all this was a great experience. It is a great experience because you are not only doing this just to get the first place trophy, we are doing this so we can read the bible and learn more about God. This year I learned things that I have never read and things that I thought it never happened.

For all of the Pathfinders that still haven’t participated in one I think that you will like it and you are going to learn lots of things and at the same time you are going to have lots of fun. Also for all of those teenagers that are not in Pathfinders, I think that you should join a club. Being a Pathfinder and is very cool and you get to experience things that you have never done.
